Did you hear that Spartan Races has partnered with NBC sports???? Here's a snippet from their website:
"Spartan Race and NBC Sports Network are collaborating on a television special which will feature the World Championship and focus on the sport of obstacle racing. This event, the culmination of the 2013 Reebok Spartan Race Series, will take place on September 21-22, 2013, in scenic central Vermont, near Spartan Race HQ in Pittsfield.
Tens of thousands of obstacle racing competitors and enthusiasts from around the world will converge on New England, where$250,000 in cash and prizes will be on the line. At the World Championship, top-ranked Reebok Spartan Race athletes, Olympians, and amateur athletes alike will compete side-by-side, assuming they have the brawn, guts and intestinal fortitude.
Spartan Race has partnered with NBC Sports Group to chronicle the amazing people and stories behind the race series and the World Championship, culminating in a 90-minute TV special that will air on the NBC Sports Network on October 19, 2013.
Share your story about how Reebok Spartan Race has changed your life, for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent Spartan on camera at the World Championship Race in Vermont!"
I've already programed October 19th into my phone because I don't want to miss the TV special!
If you are in the Vermont area (or just want to go visit!) they added a sprint distance (the one I completed) to the course and if you sign up before August 17th it's only $40 which is a fantastic deal.
I was super excited when Spartan contacted me and offered me a code to give away to one of my readers! This code is good only for a race in the 2013-2014 racing year. Enter! It doesn't hurt to enter. :)

I just want to say hello and congratulations on your transformation. I just found this blog today but I will be back. My first spartan race sprint was in July of this year and I didn't know what I was in for. The whole time I was like 'what's going to be next?' Or 'There's more?!' What an experience though!
ReplyDeleteThank you! At each obstacle I'd ask the volunteer what the next one was. It was an amazing experience. I can't wait to do it again.
DeleteFirst time checking out the blog! I was nervous/scared about completing my first mud run - I had no idea what I was getting myself into! Ended up loving it and I've done another since - hope to do a Spartan in 2014!
ReplyDeleteYou are a Spartan and you CAN do anything. LOVE =)
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this really changed my life for the better. But since running my first spartan sprint last year, the addiction to OCR's has gone through the roof. I compete in one every weekend, sometimes driving as far as 6 hours to get to a race. Def a little insane on my part LOL. Would be awesome to be able to get an entry into the vermont or fenway spartans.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on your progress! Spartan races will carve you out of wood. My most frightening recent moment was probably committing to my first marathon. So much money, so much time training. Taking that first step was more frightening than actually running the 26.2, by race day I knew I was ready.
ReplyDeleteI've done other OCRs, but have yet to do a Spartan! It's on the list :) Also, on the list is a tri!! Thanks for the chance to win an entry!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I was somewhat nervous before running my first Spartan race, I wouldn't say I was scared. Here's what scared me: proposing to my wife! I had a terrible fear of rejection! But, God gave me the strength to ask her, she said no, I asked again later, she said yes, and after 16 years of growing together and raising a family, He continues to bless us!
ReplyDeleteRunning these races has been a great motivation to get in shape. They take a lot out of you but it's a great time
ReplyDeleteHow inspirational! I'm slowly trying to get back to a healthy shape and weight myself.
ReplyDeleteI have my first Spartan race next may, and that makes me all kinda of nervous, but I have some smaller obstacle races before then to help prepare.
