* No, I can't donate my skin. :(
* The surgery will take approximately 4 hours and then an hour in recovery.
* He thinks that he will remove approximately 5 pounds of skin. I feel a bit jipped by this number. 5 pounds? Ugh! That doesn't seem worth it. On the other hand 5 pounds no longer literally HANGING on my body will probably feel significantly different.
* The drains really will be in for 5 days. :( They did tell me that if the bleeding stops sooner than that that I can call and they will remove them early.
* I had him show me again where he will be cutting. He took my whole mid-section in his hands and said that "all of this" will be gone. Niiiice! There was a lot in that "all of this".
I keep getting asked if I'm excited about my surgery. I am excited, but I am also still very nervous. This is a routine surgery, but not routine for me. I am confident that this is a great decision for me. I am excited to see the results. I am a little bit giddy about missing work for 3 weeks.
Excited? Yes! Nervous? Yes!
On another note- I am still loving my new weight training routine. I am hoping to have hubby take measurements in the new few days to update you on my lifting progress.
I'm excited for you too and I had nervousness too but you'll be ok. As for him taking off 5 lbs, it could be more, could be less, my doc never gave me an estimate so at least you have an idea. I've not met anyone that has been sorry for having plastic surgery done. I know for myself though I still have some loose skin on my upper stomach I am still so much happier with my appearance than I've ever been in my life. Just remember to take it easy after surgery even though you might feel pretty good the first week. Everything I've read said the first week you were kind of on a high (literally somewhat because you'll have pain meds) but then by week two kind of had a crash (for me it was emotional and physical). Just remember to REST though and not over do it. I can't wait to hear all about it from you.
ReplyDeleteAs for the drains since mine were in so darn long and they say not to shower with them I was starting to feel so yucky. After more than a week my best friend (a nurse) told me to just cover where the drains go in and take a shower anyway. So I just tied a string around my neck to hold up the drains while I took a quick shower. She said just don't stand under the water super long. I felt a million times better after that. But if it's just 5 days you probably won't need to worry about that and can just wait till they are out.
Well good luck and I will keep checking back here for posts.
